Great contribution, as always, Dan.

To your last point: maybe in future we'll choose our commission chairpersons more carefully because wow.

Dear Adv, this piece is surely of academic value to those pursuing studies in law.

May I ask Advocate's opinion on another aspect and how one would marry your piece with that answer:

Can one suppose that Zondo "feels" conflicted and needs to exonerate himself(based on the allegation of family ties with Zuma) that he would seek out the apex court's "say" on the matter taking into account that it is the final arbiter?

And, by doing so, Zondo would free himself from allegations that he is acting in his personal interest to settle scores with Zuma?

That asked, is Zondo not of opinion that the Commission is not a court of law, for that the issues at stake( the contempt of court) better be addressed by an institution clothed with judicial power?

I agree with Advocate that Zondo should have rather brought his application to the High Court for the reasons given by Advocate. But does that in itself not imply that the commission is not a court of law for the examining of the contempt charge?

Thank you.
